Re: the Special
Watching Pt 1 of the special. I wanted to watch it on the Yesterday channel but there would have been too many cuts so I went back to the DVD. Better than I remembered to be honest. All the usual caveats from S3 and 4 about the humour being less believable, and no Bomber this time around, but on the...

Re: Series 4
Can't believe S4 finished 10 years ago! Just around the time my son was born. It was, to my mind, the weakest of the 4 series. I still enjoyed it though but not as much as s3 as that had the added bonus of being the return of the lads after 15 years or so. 3 and 4 are both similar to me, good but n...

Re: How old were the Lads in Series 1
Oz wasn't originally born in 58 as far as I knew, that only appeared in S3. His age was never mentioned in S1 but I always put him as older. In S2 Rob was about 10 so if Oz was born in 58 he'd have only been about 17 when Rod was born.
Nev was 25 and Dennis was supposed to be 10 years older.

Re: Edits to S2 being shown on Yesterday.
The cuts to S3 are even worse. I watched ep 4 tonight on Tv then rewatched the DVD version. There were huge cuts to fit the time - Wyman and Bomber on the river; Nev, Brenda and Joe on the moors, various cuts within scenes and so on. I guess to new viewers the cuts wouldn't be obvious, but to us add...

Re: Series 3
Can anyone pinpoint what the difference is between S1 and 2 and the later ones? Just something different that I can't quite describe? Is it more slapstick? Less believable? I remember commenting at the time about how I enjoyed it but something wasn't quite the same.

Re: Auf Pet actors in other TV shows.
I was watching an episode of sadly long-forgotten early 80s snooker-based comedy/drama Give Us A Break last night, and up popped Carole Pringle as some kind of femme fatale. edit: my curiousity suitably piqued, I had a look elsewhere and it turns out that not only did Catherine Rabett (Carole Pring...

Re: Auf Pet actors in other TV shows.
Clive Russell, who was in series 4, played Alex's father in the fantastic BBC comedy Uncle. Mind you, Clive Russell has been in practically every TV show ever made. I also watched the Clement/La Frenais film Still Crazy last night, featuring Oz, Barry and Jeffrey Grainger. Clive Russell is a fantas...

Re: How did you get into it?
Saw episode 3 at my nan and grandad's house. They loved the show and mentioned it to me. I was unimpressed by the sound of it " a German programme", why would a 13 year old want to watch something like that? 20 minutes in I am hooked and have been for 33 years.

Re: Series 2
So glad Gary filmed as much as he did, as if he'd died a few months before I don't think the series would have seen the light of day.
