Re: Things you HAVEN'T learned from watching Auf Pet

Something else which wasn't revealed was whether Barry's mixed doubles win with Helen Ferguson in the West Bromwich & District Soonday Methodist League was his sole sporting sporting triumph or if he also scaled the heights with draughts or crazy golf. Nobody could ever take that pewter tankard away...

Re: Things you HAVEN'T learned from watching Auf Pet

Another thing I haven't learned is whether Brenda was ever satisfied with her house, which was rejected for a feature in Homes and Gardens as it was too fancy. My spies in Geordieland tell me Neville has had to go back on the building sites and do loads of overtime as Brenda wants another extension....

Re: Oz's romantic adventures

Thank goodness I'm too much of a gent to say if Marj had another pair of legs she'd have opened in Hartlepool. What's not generally known about Oz's wild session with Mrs Chatterley is that her husband found out about it and was so distraught he went back to wearing the wig he had on when he had a d...

Re: Oz's romantic adventures

I'd forgotten about the brewery lass. She was a helpful sort, offering advice when an enquiry was made on how she got into those pants. Wonder if she knew the guy who lifted the barrels with one arm and who was knocking off Marjorie. The scores on the doors for Marj are the brewery fella, the ...

Oz's romantic adventures

He was a bit of a Lothario on the quiet was Oz (or maybe not so quiet). Although it was never made clear if he was a ladies man before he met Marjorie, I think we can take it as read he wasn't shy of chasing after Geordie lasses at any age. There was the beauty consultant Uli (apparently her clients...

Re: Robert Vaughn

Being a new start, I'm still having a mooch around the site (the paint that was nicked from the stores hasn't been replaced and the window Magowan broke still isn't fixed) and I saw this thread on Robert Vaughn. Robert must be about the only American actor who's starred with A-listers and appeared i...

Re: Things you HAVEN'T learned from watching Auf Pet

Nah, I'd just read the thread's previous posts for the first time and they reminded me of different bits from the first two series, the DVDs of which I'd watched a couple of weeks back. My fan fiction would probably result in mass snoozing. ;)

Re: Things you HAVEN'T learned from watching Auf Pet

Ooh, there's loads of unanswered questions. Did Colin go AWOL again and hitch-hike around Germany? Was Terry Leather extradited to serve 25 years penal servitude? Did the guy singing Sweet Caroline in the Spanish pub get signed by a major record label? Did those two freeloading gals ever get to Fish...

Re: Tiny moments in AWP you hate.

Oz's pale blue jacket and camel overcoat must've been made for a giant as they look big on Jimmy Nail, who's hardly a small bloke. I always laugh at Oz's response when Arthur Pringle snorts and says they're a bit overdressed - grabbing his bow-tie and telling Pringle he looks like a pox doctor's cle...

Re: Auf Pet actors in other TV shows.

I've seen three AWP faces in a film and TV series I've watched over the past couple of days. One of the main characters in kitchen sink classic Saturday Night and Sunday Morning is played by Bryan Pringle. Bryan was very good in that role as the diffident and put-upon Jack, a real contrast to the gr...

Re: What if Martin turned up at the Airport?

If Martin had turned up at the airport, I think airport security and the police would have been called. I believe this would have occurred as it's likely Oz would've started a boxing match and bounced Martin around the airport terminal, particularly if the big fella had put a few beers down his neck...

Re: Ridiculous Emmerdale

I was a fan of Emmerdale waaaay back when it had a gentle charm but now I find it as unwatchable as the other soaps, a combination of ludicrous storylines and po-faced scriptwriters bashing viewers over the head with their laughably right-on take on the correct social attitudes for the great unwashe...

Re: Tiny moments in AWP you hate.

Brenda saying to Wayne he's got good dress sense. Eh?! Even for the 80s, a pink jacket and leather trousers was naff, the sort of thing Peter Stringfellow would wear sans irony.

Re: Do the actors recieve repeat fees

I'd agree that 30 thousand in today's money was fair for an unknown actor. John Thaw said he never made any money from The Sweeney, which is surprising given 4 years of big ratings and 2 films. I think Sheila Hancock got more for an advert in the late 70s than John ever did for playing Regan. Richar...

Re: Hello from the frozen north

Cheers, but I'm slightly worried as it took me a few seconds to think of where the quote came from...Ally in Spain? James Booth looked younger in AWP than he did in The Sweeney a decade earlier!
