Re: How hard was Oz?

Oz was kind of mates with Magowan; he didn't really see him as a nuisance like the other lads did.

He wouldn't have invited him to stay in the hut, then try and physically throw him out.

Re: Series 1 Fourteenth Ep Theme

Nev, Dennis and Bomber all had good reason to go back home; their families and children. Oz didn't like the Germans or German life very much, plus Newcastle had just signed Kevin Keegan. Barry wasn't going to go home, but had no choice when his bike caught fire and burned the hut down. I don't think...

Re: Goodbye Granadaland

I saw it, it was a good programme. The thing with modern TV is that the BBC, ITV and Channel 4 have more channels to fill with less and less money (the BBC in particular), so they can't afford to make so many expensive programmes. Reality TV is fairly cheap to make, plus they get most of the money b...

Re: whatever happened to the likely casino dollar?

Or it could be that most of the profit from the casino for the first few years was used to pay off the bridge construction and other costs, and then after that the lads would get their slice.

Maybe the casino wasn't making any money, despite the new bridge.

Re: Neville

Aye, but in Derbyshire and Spain, he was living on site. If he'd taken the job in Washington, he would have been commuting there and back. I know he had a car, but maybe Brenda also used the car for getting to work?

"Ah don't want to read about Dundee and Aberdeen!"

Dundee I can understand, but Aberdeen?!? We had a canny team back then.

Re: Series 3 and 4

Wyman probably wouldn't have been much like his old man, seeing as he never knew him.

And I believe that Jimmy Nail insisted that Oz be a reformed character, or else he wouldn't do the show.

Re: Still Game

Just re-watched Phoenix nights for the first time in years, forgotten how good it was. A classic comedy of any era never mind the modern one. Fair play to Kay and co they could have sold out and made fortunes with mind numbing repeat after repeat on UK Gold like many other classic comedy have done....

Re: Great Night Out

Sadly ITV will not be making anymore 'Great Night Out' Why bother doing anything! Well, with forty episodes of Corrie and Emerdale to fit in every week, plus hours of cookery shows and below-par dramas starring Robson Green, there's just no more room in ITV's schedule for quality programming.

Re: Frank Sidebottom Documentary

I used to have Frank's Fantastic Shed Show on DVD. He was just great, entertaining and not offensive at all. A great man was Chris Sievey, raising thousands for charity before his death despite being broke himself.

Re: The State of British TV

Almost every time I put the TV on, there's some people preparing food. That's not entertainment, that's just cooking. The Apprentice used to be good, but once you've seen one bunch of deluded business types, you've seen them all. One of the problems with today's TV formats is that once something bec...
