Turned this up:

Doesn't look like the thing's going anywhere in a hurry then (ironically). ;)

Great series and well written. All local talent too, Mickey Hutton, Mike "The Mouth" Elliot, Melanie Hill to name a few. Also starred Chris Fairbank and Tim Spall as you all probably know.

Useless fact: The second car a Sierra Cosworth 4x4 a used in series 2 "H674 LAR" was pinched during filming and found stripped in a warehouse not far in Gateshead somewhere.
Not uncommon for this car in the 90's I'm afraid

Not uncommon in the slightest - the Sierra Cossie's successor, the Escort (albeit a cut 'n shut Sierra underneath the bodywork) was practically uninsureable in the 90s when it was released.

I remember Clarksons, called Gary.

Is calling it Gary being racist at all?

Never really took to Spender. And once Jimmy outran a metro train, I couldn't take it seriously.

Finally decided to watch the show on YouTube; Wow, what a show! Pity there hasn't been an official DVD release thus far. Still one can only hope, eh?
