Still Game

Post by Bomber » Mon Sep 15, 2014 5:38 pm

Hi all,

Just wondering if there are any Still Game fans on the site and if anyone is going to see the live shows in Glasgow? One of the funniest programmes to come out of Scotland

Loved this show. It never screened here in NZ but a Scottish friend had 3 episodes on a disc that he lent me. I was hooked and bought the whole boxset.

I was introduced to it by a friend who'd holidayed in Scotland. I too have the boxset and watch it periodically. I think there is mileage in something similar featuring Dennis, Oz and Neville...

I got the first episode on DVD free with a newspaper, and I was hooked. I think the first three series were best; the ones after that are not as good.

I was just looking on Wikipedia, and it says "On the 25th of July 2014, whilst taking part in a Q and A at BBC Scotlands Commonwealth Quay, Greg Hemphill revealed that talks are in completion with the BBC, and that there will almost definitely be another series of Still Game, although 'these wheels turn slowly'. In short, if there were to be another series of Still Game, It would not be on-air/broadcast until at least early 2016."

Good news if it's true.

They just reached a point where the stress of it all got to them and affected their friendship. But according to this they are prepared to bring it back. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/entertainm ... ay-2486297

Love the series, best thing out of Scotland comedy wise.
Its a shame they aren't taking it on the road, as I'm sure it would be a great success, at least in the north of England!

Greg and Ford are behind the Yes campaign, lets see if they get it tomorrow!

If Scotland becomes independent, Still Game would then become a foreign programme and naturally move to BBC4 where all the classy foreign stuff gets shown? :D

There is a new episode of Still Game, a live episode on BBC one Scotland this Friday at 9:00pm Sky channel 977. It'll probably be on BBC I player too :D

Looking forward to this!

It is actually the Live Show, which i can't wait to see. If only an hour of it.
Revenue for the live dates hit the 6 million mark! I just wished they rolled it out over
the rest of the UK (north at least)

Also the BBC are considering a new series, BBC Scotland you know its a winner.
Just commission it

I'm sure the BBC would be dead keen to do another series, it's just a case of Ford, Greg and the others being up for it/available to do it.

Ford & Greg are both keen to do it, saying they are writing together now and are riding on a crest of a wave, but as most things on TV it takes an eternity to get something commissioned
