Jonathan Creek Anyone

Post by Auf Wiedersehen, Pet » Mon Mar 25, 2013 6:24 pm

After Auf Pet, I have to say Jonathan Creek is another one of my obsessions.
As its returning April 1st for a special, and later in the year for a mini-series, I thought now was a great time to mention this, and its also something my wife likes to watch too!

I am a fan of the Caroline Quentin series, but Julia Sawalha also added a *cough* couple of nice additions to the show. Sheridan Smith is just getting into the groove now, but sadly she might not be able to make the mini-series later in the year.

Anyone a fan?

*EASTER SPECIAL SPOILERS*

I think i've seen all of 'em (thanks to my sisters box set) and have always enjoyed them.

Had to refer to my Time Gentlemen, Please DVD to bask in Julia Sawalha's charms again....

*Pulls self together*

Anyway, I watched the thumb one last night (shown at easter) and must say I thoroughly enjoyed it. Wor lass thought it was far-fetched, but not a Creek fan so there you go.

Alan Davies and Sheridan Smith were fine but Rik Mayall was sublime. When he saw Nigel Planer's head in the freezer all I could hear was, "Neil, Neil, orange peel! Why can't I see you again???!!!" :D

I have to say, David Renwick is my fave TV screenwriter. His stuff his simply amazing. And good to see his Hitchcock-esque cameo in this ep.

Yeah, good stuff. looking forward to new eps.

It was a good episode, just had an odd ending and also Jonathan married and not living in his Windmill? I know people move on as Jonathan said, but bring back the Windmill!

I love the early stuff, 'Time Waits For Norman' and 'The Reconstituted Corpse' which starred Nigel Planer playing another character, are some of my favourites......

Can't wait for the next full series now!

Just finished watching Series 5, and JC fans are going through the change phase.

A lot are not liking the changes, such as JC not living in the Windmill which is a bit weird and him being married and moving to the country, but it works.

Just like Pet changing from S2 to S3, this phase is starting with JC.
I will admit, some of the magic has gone, but the newer series are a great watch.

I didn't enjoy the new episodes. They seem busy and cluttered. One had three mysteries in it for JC to solve! The wife is a harridan and needs killing off IMO. Her friends are also quite annoying people and what on earth was the point of the young Sherlock type character?

I think its time to bring back Maddy Magellen (Caroline Quentin) she and JC bounced off each other very well indeed.

On a positive note, the sight of Ali Bastian in her underwear was worth watching :D
