The Alien - Set at Christmas?

Post by Auf Wiedersehen, Pet » Thu Dec 18, 2014 8:23 pm

There are 2 mentions of Christmas or similar in this episode.

Firstly Wayne says to Barry when Barry says about organising the drinks on the table in the hut, "Oh nice and festive, how about some balloons?....."

Secondly Oz to Neville near the end when talking about his secret guitar lessons...

"What at the Christmas party like?...."

I think two episodes later (The lovers) Barry is whistling Jingle Bells whilst putting up the rota for painting the hut, Could all have been filmed same time.

It is weird how we never see the Christmas time of year properly in any of the episodes.. its certainly worthy of a special back in the 80's... last time i saw an AWP advertised around christmas was the Special years ago.. and then it was right at the end of December wasnt it..

Aye, just after Christmas 2004 was the last episodes.

Christmas in the hut would make a good subject for a fan fiction. Mebbes I'll have a go at it if I get some time.

Barry is decorating the tree that is placed on top of a bedside cabinet beside the dart board.

Barry: "This is great, innit? I was also a dab hand at it when I was a kid. My aunt said I was a natural.

Oz: "Aye?"

Barry: "Just a matter of knowen what you doen. Lights on furst! That's essential you know before you add the baubles.

Dennis: "Barry? We're in a hut, man! With another 6 blokes! Just hoy them on, man!"

Barry: "Naaa no Den, it won't werk. You have ter place every 'un of them strategically loike. Fer the full affect!!"

Neville enters the hut with his sledge:

Neville: "Well that was a waste of time. The snow's melting all over the site."

Dennis: "I told you it would, Neville. It's the salt from the spilt sand."

Neville: "Typical!!

Barry: "What do you think, Neville?"

Neville: "You what?"

Barry: "The tree, loike! Did it all on me own.

Neville: "Aye canny." (Nev puts his sledge in the cement cupboard and walks up to take a closer inspection of the tree)

Neville: "Brenda's just bought a white one today from Fenwicks. Argh I wish I was back home. Hardest time of the year for me."

Barry: "But that's why I got this tree, Neville! So you can still celebrate Christmas. You have ter put in the effort ter make this place more bearable. So I went shopping an' got a tree, decorations, seven advent calenders an' a crate of booze."

Neville: "I'm trying to make an effort, Barry. I've bought a sledge off Helmut, didn't 'a. Can't even have fun with that."

Dennis: "Listen to these two. You're like a couple of bairns"

End Of Scene.....
(Hope it wasn't crap, it's my first effort. :|

That's not bad. Definitely captures what Barry would be like at decorating the tree.

That was really good. I bet barry would have done a light switching on ceremony as well, and probably blown all the electrics on site!

HAHA ! Yes I can just see that Lou. "Roight quiet everyone, quiet. Ahh h-hmmm, I - I as light switch officer declare this ceremony open." BANG.
Oz, "AHH Barry man, I hope you never get a place of ya own to blow up !"
Wayne, "Ah yes, very festive Barry. Grunwald will be pleased."
Moxey, "Think I'll light a fire."
