Mickey Startup
Was he meant to be a kind of 'Ally Fraser' for the 21st century?
It did seem a touch coincidental to me that a gangster from Liverpool had connections to people trafficking 150 miles away in Middlesbrough!

Re: Mickey Startup
Oh yes! I remember that episode he murdered his wife in their tent. His brother Paul Angelis also did a Bergerac, I think in the 1980s it must have been the 'law' to do at least 1 episode of the show!

Re: Mickey Startup
He was also in One Summer(if you haven't seen it watch it free on YouTube, you will not regret it). It's an absolute peach of a drama.

Re: Mickey Startup
I enjoyed the Startup character. A lot loike Ally, pretty cheesey for a Mobsta; "Find him and kill him. Then bring him back here and I'll kill him, again !" "Happy Birthday !" "Just Moxey like Moby or Mantovani." "Looking for a holiday villa I'm sick of Barbadoes !" Great writing, great lines, great delivery !

Re: Mickey Startup
What I liked about Ali was that he played with stupid toys on his office desk at the same he was talking to Dennis or others about business. Ever since I saw that, I've always wanted my own 'Automatic Golf Ball Return Machine' and a 'Wire Buzzer Game'. I eventually bought the Buzzer game for the bairns last Christmas. I had a go and when the buzzer went off, I shouted: "I mean feed them first!"Tracy wrote:I enjoyed the Startup character. A lot loike Ally, pretty cheesey for a Mobsta; "Find him and kill him. Re: Mickey Startup
Startup was played brilliantly by Michael Angelis.
He also played Chrissy in Boys from the Blackstuff, and in the first film of it they all went to work in Middlesboro

I'll have your ass, for a hat..
When Oz says 'it would suit ya', I think it sums up his character well. He doesn't do being told what to do, not by anyone.
Startup had a sideline role in a three part drama called Good Cop. That is worth a watch I tell ye man.

And of course Alan Igbon who played his right hand man was Loggo in Blackstuff as well.
