Thornely Manor aka Beesthorpe Hall

Post by Auf Wiedersehen, Pet » Tue Jan 15, 2013 7:48 pm

I am afraid, I have to post this, although I wish I didn't have to!

Due to the stupid actions of some fans who have recently visited Thornley Manor aka Beesthorpe Hall, no one, and that means no one is allowed anywhere near The Manor. If you try and visit, you will be trespassing, and you will will be dealt with to the highest force possible.

This is not me saying this, but the owner, who is disgusted at the actions of some fans, who basically think they can do as they wish around this fantastic, but 'Private' property.

I think its more the case that they wandered round without looking for the owner and just thought they could do what they liked..

No Dan, that's not the case, he loves the show. His point is, someone was messing about in his back garden, which is very private, whilst his family was in the house.....if someone did that to me, I'd feel the same. He's a really nice guy, this just tipped him over the edge.....

This is what i received off the owner to put here..

Important Update – March 2013

I am very sorry to have to report that, due to the recent idiotic and thoughtless actions of some people, who have very recently just ‘swanned on’ to the property, including walking around ‘freely’ in the back gardens and actually ‘messing about’ with the house windows, without even seeking any permission whatsoever, and whilst the young family were actually in the house, the new owners have quite rightly now BANNED all ‘visits’ for the foreseeable future.

Any such further intrusion of their home and privacy will be swiftly and actively dealt with ‘to the full scope and extent of the law’.

Let’s be honest; how would you feel if God knows who was skulking around in your own back garden, messing about with your house windows, etc, especially when your family was at home!? Let’s be right you really ‘would not like it’, would you?!

Unfortunately these fools have, as always, successfully managed to spoil things for all you genuine and respectful fans.

I will be keeping in touch with owner from time to time and trust that you will all do the Right Thing and respect their privacy, as you would have your own respected.

Thank you.

I don't blame the owner! I would feel exactly the same I'm afraid.

Good on him. As much as I always wanted to visit the manor I wouldnt have dreamt of just arriving and snooping around the grounds. I always thought a polite phone call might have been sensible. And this was even before the new owners moved in.

There are enough photos and videos around to keep me happy.

BTW..how much of the manor is visible from the road out of interest, not that Im going to be travelling down and using a zoom lens or anything daft like that.

If you do have a zoom lens you can see it from the front brilliantly, watch the first minute and half of my location video and you will see whats viewable from the layby, as thats where i parked up at first..

is there now a notice that clearly states members of the working class will be exterminated !!

I totally understand this guys point of view though, and its just a shame that someone may have ruined any future visits that may be allowed.

Totally respect this, you cant have people turning up like that when you have kids.

A thought for the future, say a couple of years time ? ........That a planned "open day" in strictly certain areas of the house / gardens be organised ? If the current owner is a fan and understands the interest, perhaps this might be considered ?

I for one would certainly pay a decent fee for being allowed to visit. Perhaps suggest that proceeds go to the owner ? Afterall there would be overheads to consider.

Anyway, I agree, some fantastic work before now has produced fantastic photo's and videos. Thankfully !

Its a tough one for me, I will be honest, as I do try my best to keep people away, but I can only do so much......but like Bomber said....

"Your only the gaffer on site, you can't be responsible for any responsible act that happens outside of work....."

Or words to that effect, but I think you know what I mean..

Totally unacceptable behaviour! and has already been said I don't blame the owner. I wonder if the people responsible are members of this forum and if so they wish to give their reasons for what they did!
