I remember Viz running a page on detectives talking about how they solved a mystery and Jimmy Nail was one of them...

"Well first of all, I'll wait in a tree and wait for the murderer to pass. And when he does, I'll jump out and shout "BASTARD!" before chasing him in a hot air balloon."

Did all characters from Awp have comic strip parts in Viz then? Even if only once?

Not as far as I know, but Jimmy Nail was mentioned a lot in Viz.

I was reading a book about Viz by one of the creators, and he said that Jimmy was a big fan of the magazine and wanted to develop a TV series based on Sid the Sexist. But the project never happened for some reason.

The Pet links don't stop there, because there was an animated video of Sid the Sexist produced, and the voice of Sid was Sammy Johnson.

The original vids are great, Sammy Johnson doing Sid the sexist is brilliant.
I remember channel 4 making some more viz cartoons about 5 years ago, a terrible let down

There was a live action film of the Fat Slags, starring Geri Halliwell (not in one of the title roles).

It's regarded as one of the worst films of all time.
