Beco Building site v Albert Square

Post by totti » Thu Feb 19, 2015 4:25 pm

Was wondering if it was possible to have an overlay of the current Albert Square set on top of the Beco Building site layout. Would be interesting to see where things fit in relation to how things were to how they are now, especially the hut.......just a thought.

Hi All!

The ‘AWP vs EE Site Plan’ was something I had planned to produce for the 30th Anniversary 2013 Convention in Newcastle as part of the BECO Building Site Presentation. At the time it was suggested the comparison between the two film sets wasn’t strictly AWP so I put the idea on hold.

During early 2014 I made some enquiries with set designers at the BBC in a bid to obtain accurate plans of the EastEnders backlot set but my communications sadly fell upon deaf ears.

That said, I’m confident an accurate representation of the EastEnders set can be reproduced based on several on line resources and think the comparisons would make interesting viewing and throw up a lot of debate. If there’s enough interest I’ll certainly look into it.

Incidentally, a few AWP vs EE scene location comparisons were touched upon in the ‘30 BECO BUILDING SITE FACTS YOU DIDN’T KNOW’ thread here: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1012

Oh right, I always assumed they used the same buildings.

Well all I can say is after the past couple of nights eastenders crap, it's a pity they didn't flatten it with all the cast members on site!
I really did think that they were building the set for Eastenders on Auf pet.

Yes tottie - this is still in the pipeline... and so much more besides.

We've loads of exciting stuff going on at the moment and the BECO vs Albert Square is just one of them.

Very soon we'll be launching a new branch of the website dedicated to the Series 1 BECO film set. If you haven't already done so, sign up to the newsletter for the latest.

Andy.
