How has Pet aged to you?

Post by Auf Wiedersehen, Pet » Mon Mar 09, 2015 6:00 pm

I am a member of another TV fansite page on Facebook, and a fan recently commented on how he thought the show had aged, the series is from the late 60's.

He remarked on how the sets which were supposed to look futuristic, were now looking aged.
They also commented on how the scenes featuring cars made it look aged, but apart from that it was pretty much looking good.

I think this could be the same for Pet, as the cars age it and some of the locations do.
Scenes on the Beco site could easily be filmed today, give or take H&S, also scenes at Thornely Manor could be filmed today as nothing much ages it there, except for the lack of Mobile phones and branded goods such as the Beer Cans which look dated. Clothing looks pretty good to me, on the building site apart from the High Vis vests, it's not looking too bad.

Also note that Series 3 looks dated on the Car front also.

What ages Pet for you?

I agree that most of the clothes worn could Still fit in today except for Wayne's clobber.
I was watching series 1 at the weekend with a becks in hand and thought how little things have changed in 30 Years!

From a plane spotter; the 737-200s, Vera's British Airways S1 and 'The Bricklayers Special', S2, along with Oz's "charter a 747" are the big ones. Plenty of them still aboot but fast on the way oot. :|

I think a hell of a lot of ladies fashion in the show compared to today has changed... Imagine a woman meeting her husband at an airport now in the same outfit as what vera had on in Series 1.. Blue suit all in one weird thingy.. im sure people would smirk or comment between themselves..

Granted, granted, that has changed.
I think that's slowly dying out, getting a suit on for a night on the town, that's a no no now.
It's more a cheap T-Shirt and Jeans and sneakers.... ;)
