30 Years of Series 2
On February 21st, we will reach the milestone of 30 years of when Return of the Seven first aired on ITV at 9pm.
For me, this is the one I really remember, I was 9 at the time, but I have strong memories of actually watching this. I remember a lot of it, and also remember buying the VHS box set in WHsmith in Halifax, in the early 90's. I remember seeing the advert in the News of the World, for the VHS being released and the excitement of finally being able to watch it again was immense! In the days before the internet, or On Demand, you really did not have a chance of watching it again, unless you recorded it in 86. Was it really like that? Jesus!
So, watching it in 86. I remember my parents let me watch it, even though it was on from 9-10 at night, and on a school night too! Good memories, really good!
Anyway, getting back to it.
What do you remember of it first airing, what do you remember?

Re: 30 Years of Series 2
Two things: I recorded the second series when it first aired and spent the next few years watching it. And also I could have sworn series two aired on Fridays no?

Re: 30 Years of Series 2
My first memories of watching Series 2 was Sunday nights on UK Gold during September 2002 up to sometime after New Year 2003. What helped me enjoy watching this series during that time of the week was the fact I had time off school the following day during the showing of some of these episodes, particularly the first two of the Thornley Manor episodes and the last one.

Re: 30 Years of Series 2
Because I was 20 in 1986 I was usually in the pub on a Friday night so missed most of series 2. Big mistake! Thank goodness for repeats and DVDs!

I remember recording the series and I've still got them somewhere in the loft. Cut pics of the lads out of magazines and stuck them to the cassette case. Arhhh Happy Days!

Re: 30 Years of Series 2
Like Magowan, I first watched series 2 on Sunday nights in the autumn/winter of 2002, although I'm sure it was on the Men and Motors channel, not UK Gold.
I was going to watch it when it was repeated on Channel 4 in the mid-1990s, but I didn't bother for some reason. I didn't see it in its original time slot in 1986, because I was only four years old.

Series two was a happy and sad affair as Gary had died. I still remember the last episode with Tim Healy dedicating the episode to Gary and Wayne.
Also remember it well as I was on work experience at the time on a building site in Berkhamsted and we even had a hut!

It didn't burn down but it wouldn't have been a bad thing if it had. Mind you it kept the rain off our heads and somewhere to eat our pies.

No, it was UK Gold. Although Men & Motors would go on to repeat them in 2005/06.Hallwood wrote:Like Magowan, I first watched series 2 on Sunday nights in the autumn/winter of 2002, although I'm sure it was on the Men and Motors channel, not UK Gold.

Well I failed. A death in the family meant I missed celebrating the 30th Anniversary of s2. I'll just have to mark ep2 instead.
