Devoted / Quirky Things Us Pet Fans Do...

Post by Si » Tue Feb 12, 2013 2:51 pm

A few guys go that extra length for us regarding Auf Pet. This site and all the hard work and research and time Lee puts into it and Tim's excellent location videos to name but two. They are massive devoted fans to the best show ever.

I wondered what little things all us devotees do re Auf Pet in our daily lives? I know some people use a lot of the lines when talking. I say 'nob off' all the time these days. 'Er indoors even says it now :D

So what quirkly little things do you do?

One i'm about to start doing again (may not be quirky, just sad, haha) is this...

I always find it hard to pick an Auf Pet ep to watch 'cause I know them all so well. So what I did a while back was print out a list of every ep, then cut them up into seperate pieces, then scrumple them up and put them in a bag.

Then i'd rummage round in the bag and pull one out and that's the next ep i watch. Then that bit of paper goes in another 'watched' bag. So that way, I get to see every episode but each one is a surprise and fate decides which one I watch. Now i'm gonna start it all again when I get home.

Yup, it is sad

I say a lot of the sayings quite a lot, maybe too much.

Knob Off, Hadaway and Bollocks, Shut Up Both A Ya, Bollocks, Shite hooses of the Loire (Yes I fit this in daily, don't know how), Bugger Off Man, and the rest.

Creature of habit me, Series 1 then 2 etc, episode by episode. Month after month, year after year. Self confessed Aufaholic ! Always looking for new bits and pieces that thanks to this site, has breathed a whole new life into it. Still laugh at all the jokes and cringe at the story lines that are frighteningly all too real life !!!
"Bollocks", "Whats da word then?", "Never leave the hut without it", "Jam or Marmite?" Just a few well worn lines but one of my favourites, should anyone say the wrong thing about my side of town; "Aayye, doont rubbish my area. We live 'ere and you doont !!!"

Heres one; after seeing Barry's model van, I went to the biggest model shop in town. I had a good look around but no joy. AAAHHH but what I did find was a Corgi Concorde, in the colors of the mid 80s. So my AWP mind kicks into overdrive and I bought it ! Why? I still reckon Concorde is what 'Carol' and 'Wayne' are pointing to in the snap. And it was a steal at $20 !!!

I used to go around the local clubs and old people's homes playing the organ in the late 1980s for charity. Songs like 'Roll Out The Barrel' and other such songs like that. I would always play 'That's Living Alright' at the end to see if they would react. They loved it!!

But saying that, they also loved when I played 'Green Green Grass Of Home' and 'Spanish Eyes' as well so I really don't know where I'm going with this. They were probably just being polite and really thinking I was a tossa.

I keep saying that 'hup hup' noise Oz makes when he's pulling away in the Zepher (much to my wifes annoyance)

The 'bollocks' comes up quite often, but not many others unless I'm doing a location video

I use some Geordie words all the time, more so when I've been watching AWP. And I'm not even from Newcastle.

Loving this thread! I have to declare saying “Tarra for a bit” in a Brummie accent at any given opportunity! Having read through the previous posts, I think we all need to get out more often... perhaps to a convention or something...

Anyway, ‘tarra for a bit’...

I do occasionally have a habit of saying "what's the word then eh?" when greeting people.

Gadgee...Oz says it a bit when describing a knobhead or similar ilk.

So i use it to describe other people of dubious character too.
