Was just thinking, Helmut was only ever in 2 eps of Auf Pet. But it felt so much more.
What a wonderful character. Great big grin and Nev's best German friend.
Lex Van Delden as Helmut means a lot to me. I think, as far as characters go, he's up there with the best.

To me he was just as much a brit as an Eric' friendly, slight accent, but not as such vindictive either.. he would decline a drink from Bomber rather than get nasty and shout.. a good character..

It still weirds me out a bit seeing how the cast looks now (or recently anyway, Helmut RIP). Watching the show so often has frozen everyone in time for me.
I like to think that picture is of him finally accepting a drink off of Bomber.

That role name always kind of puzzled me...
Must be because in Germany we really had an actor whose name was Helmut Fischer! But he'd died quite a long time ago, sadly. And a very popular actor he was, too!
