It never ended the series but it gave the start of a possible revival - going back to Germany - start where it began all those years ago. That was magic - not an ending but a possible beginning. The series was always about Dennis Oz and Neville the others came in and padded it out - three in the hut would have been boring.

Another series ? Why not ? Tim Healy made it known he was interested - so maybe we will see another outing with them back in Germany. Its a different place this world lot has gone on in 30 years or so - and Germany still has plenty of scope for a few stories to be told.... Bring it on and make it happen as they say.

Yes, I do like the idea of getting in touch with the Geordies again and see what they are doing, but even if you had the others it wouldn't be the same without Bomber (it was hard as it is to not see him in the Special!) I liked the Special but it was Tatiana that annoyed me with her damn voice! The only thing that I was quite disappointed with was how Oz was pretty much left with nobody - (it all fell through with Ofelia which was a real shame cos I think things may have worked out - love and age does make you change) Neville had Brenda, Dennis had Chrissie, Moxey had the Aussie girl, Barry had Tatiana and well..Bomber had Lainey (Wyman is young so he would find someone). It would've been nice if Marjorie came back so her and Oz could reconcile and become friends - just to have someone to talk to...but I guess there was too much water under the bridge for that to ever happen, but still.....

But hey, it will be 10 years ago on the 28/29 December that the special was aired and 10 years ago that we lost another of the 'Magnificent 7', so have a drink for Bomber if you're next watching it! :D

Cant believe its 10 years! Totally agree about not being the same without Bomber, wonder if Bomber had any offspring following in his footsteps? Only recall a daughter visiting the hut in Germany.
Someone has said that Tim Healey would be interested but never heard if any of the others were so inclined? I think the fans could come up with a lot of plots ,I guess its not the material thats the problem but time and finance. Anyone know what the first series cost?

Watching Pt 1 of the special. I wanted to watch it on the Yesterday channel but there would have been too many cuts so I went back to the DVD. Better than I remembered to be honest. All the usual caveats from S3 and 4 about the humour being less believable, and no Bomber this time around, but on the whole a good effort. Pt2 later.

Most of the story was a bit far-fetched, but let's face it - the lads together will always raise any story and tend to banish any reservations we have...

The best bit was the very last scene where Dennis, Neville and Oz are looking out to sea from the deck of the ferry on their way to Germany. The original theme music over the top was the icing on the cake - amazing...

It's be great to have another series set in Germany, perhaps Dennis could catch up with Dagmar again?
