Re: Favourite Series
Quite surprised Series 2 is in the lead, thought it would have been 1 as it seems to be a favourite of a few people I know. For me, Series 2 will always have a special place due to the Thornley Manor/Barley Mow episodes. Hope the later ones get some votes too!

Re: Favourite Series
Series one all the way for me, it captures the times the emotions, the desperateness whilst developing great characters who build a bond to beat the situations!

Re: Favourite Series
Series 1 for me also.
Discovered during 1995 aged 11 when scouring through the parents VHS tapes and around the time of the re-run on ITV I believe? Or was it Channel 4?
I was stuck with 3 episodes taped off the telly for a few years until it dawned on me I could ask for the box sets for Christmas.
I never looked back

Re: Favourite Series
Series 1 for me only because you can pick any episode mainly after episode 3 i think and just enjoy, whereas 2 i watch in order and follow the story more upto the lads go to Spain then the Wayne omissions kill it imo.

Re: Favourite Series
For me series 1 , will always hold its own as it concentrated on just the 7 lads together in that hut getting upto no good . Series 2 was great , however i felt that after a while it concentrated too much on the Ali Fraser Character rather than on the guys and got a little too serious towards the end .
The bbc did a good job of revising it , however i felt that what made Auf Wiedersehen pet what it is was the realism , i felt it got a bit far fetched after a while , ie Neville becoming a spy ect .

Re: Favourite Series
I think just about everyone agree's about Nev being a spy.. far-fetched to say the least.. whatever happened to just being ordinary working gadgeys! ?

Re: Favourite Series
Series 4 and the special went into the relms of fantasy. However i still enjoyed watching them because in whatever form the show was still continuing at the time.

Re: Favourite Series
I had to vote for 1, after a mammoth argument with myself!!
One set it all out, gave us the lads, set the foundations for what we all love.
Two was so similar, yet so different for me, which made it great.
I always think I love series one when I watch it, and I always start thinking "Which was best" when I watch 2 - but in the end, I had to go for 1 as it was the reason we had the rest!

Totally agree about going back to Germany , i always say you should never repeat yourself , but there could have been mileage in that .
Re: Favourite Series

Re: Favourite Series
My fav is also series one as we get to know the lads and watch them form a bond in the face adversity. But my earliest memory of pet was Oz kicking out the worktop in barry's kitchen and then ripping the unit straight off the wall. That was thefirst scene I ever saw, after that I was hooked.
Watching the lads in the hut getting on then arguing, mostly involving Oz is still the best.
" all mail vill be sencered so be cafefull vot you write, cus for you tommy sie var ist over."
