It's a close call as I really love Series 2 - which is brilliant - but still, it has to be Series 1, the original and best. Series 3 was easily the best of the later series, though not a patch on the first two. Series 4 and the Special were enjoyable because of the characters I know and love but, truth be told, weren't all that terrific - were too far fetched and don't hold the sort of special feeling for me that Series 1 and 2 do.

I've never heard someone say that, about Series 1 & 2 having that special feeling, and that's spot on!
I really love every series, but 1 & 2 will always as you say have that feeling about them. I'm currently watching Series 3, and as many keep banging on about how it's not as good as blah blah blah, it's still a belting series and better this anything that has aired in years!!

Just re watching Series 3 on Drama channel. Obviously it isn't as good as the first two but very enjoyable to watch again. Good to see Pat Roach again as well.

Series 1 so far, having a taster of the following one and while it looks cheerier and varied in some respects it lacks the serious tone.

My fav is also series one as we get to know the lads and watch them form a bond in the face adversity. But my earliest memory of pet was Oz kicking out the worktop in barry's kitchen and then ripping the unit straight off the wall. That was thefirst scene I ever saw, after that I was hooked.

Watching the lads in the hut getting on then arguing, mostly involving Oz is still the best.

'Keep in touch? He wrote the first one in Darlington, man!'

For me series 2 is the best, it brings the lads back together in only a way that is relevant to AWP!
