Tough one. I was almost 13 when it all started in November 1983 I missed the first episode but not the rest. Was totally hooked from then on. However I voted for series 2 after much deliberation with myself. Tough to call though. Series 1 really did capture the zeitgeist of the time as did another drama that was on at the same time November 83 on bbc1 Johnny Jarvis. We really were spoilt back then. A real golden age of British tv.

Got to be series 2 for me. Loved the characters, the plots and the locations. Really liked series 1 but I think that 2 just tops it.

Can't really pick a favourite from series 1 and 2. Both superb. Enjoyed the later series but they weren't no-where near as good as the first two. It's a shame Gary died as they were thinking about a third series back then I believe.

series 2 for me, the Thornley manor episodes in particular touched perfection. I do have a soft spot for series 3 though (I knaa, I knaa, it's not generally shared) & i'm glad to see it's pulled in a vote.

was that you, Geoffrey Grainger?

I've gone for series one beacause they were all very good episodes individually.
Series 2 had my favourite episodes with the lads getting back together again and then off to the Manor. It had a real feel good thing about it. The Spainish episodes lost the magic a bit.

It's hard to pick a series when there are such good episodes from all of them. Series One and Two were the ones that made it, but, after a long period of time, Series 3 brought the lads back together. For Me, by a whisker, and I watch them all over and again, series Three just takes it.

I agree about Nev but it's so funny when he has to wear the Man Utd shirt

Close call for me but its got to be 2, I still remember how deflated I felt when the boat sailed off for Tangiers thinking I'd never see the lads again.

I've gone for 2. The lads getting back together again in ROTS 1 & 2 is what won it for me

Must be series 1 for me! It's all so new and fresh...

The later episodes of series 2 sort of depress me, because it all seems to fall apart. No more Wayne... I miss him!
