'Moonlighting' another great episode.
I know many dislike Series 4, but I like the feel of the series on the whole.

I love the whole 4th series, I genuinely don't think there's a weak episode in it. I remember when it was first broadcast I was on tenterhooks after the 'Nev kidnapped' cliffhanger. Tarquin is a much better villain than the ludicrous Mickey Startup (who only has about half a dozen scenes anyway so again a pointless plotline and pointless character). At least Tarquin's villainy is integral to the plot and drags the lads into some shenanigans like Ally Fraser. Thinking about it, Startup is probably my worst and silliest character in the entire run of Aufpet. He just doesn't do anything apart from make empty threats and get arrested, all the while sounding like a sleepy George Harrison.

All of these things grate on me when I'm watching series 3. The best thing about it is when it's over I can watch series 4 :)

Series 3 was ok, i will happily watch it like the other new ones, as for Startup, i suppose he was a bit flat, as we only heard him say what he wanted done most the time, until he ventured to Middlesbrough himself, which is weird because someone with a certain reputation like his would have probably kept a lower profile..

Startup was pretty poor, but I never saw him as more than an incidental character. The real bad guy in S3 (a la Ally Fraser/Tarquin Pearce) was Jeffrey Grainger, surely?

Really enjoyed S3 at the time it first aired then went off it a bit at times over the years. However , watching the reruns on the Drama Channel made me realise how good it was a a piece of TV. Not up to S1 and S2 standards but still good. Just wish they hadn't cut so much out on TV. All the brothel scenes in Arizona plus lots of other stuff. I'll have to get the DVDs out again I guess!

As for S4 I'm enjoying all them as well. Great to see Pat Roach again.

Ridiculous how much was cut out for the Drama reruns. They were shown at 10.20pm!

I am a big fan of series 3, and 4 as well come to that. Only seen part of an AWP episode on tv and wondered why bits were cut out?
I agree about thesmaller number of episodes and expect it must be due to costs. However once you have the guys and all the gear together if they have the episodes written would it be economic to film more? Maybe it was due to commitments elsewhere?
Not sure if Wyman made his mark but his presence meant that Dennis gets to meet Chrissie? If they had chosen Christas son to seek out the lads how would that have worked?
Someone suggested that could have been the basis for a new episode in Germany with Dennis ,Oz and Nev. What would Dagmar be doing?
