What a co-incidence eh, he gans to same village in Germany the same time as the lads.![]()

Re: If I Were A Carpenter Episode Dissection
There was something I noticed yesterday for the fist time.
At customs Oz tells Dennis that it doesn't lock yet later at the services,Den tells Oz to "lock it up,its got all wor stuff in"
(though it could be argued that in the first instance Oz didn't make it clear that only the boot didn't lock).
I also found out I've been getting the opening line to Breaking Away wrong for all these years (I had the subtitles on).Always thought it was 'You stole my options'.
And I was never sure if Den Says Chocked or Joke's (as good a word as any). Now I know.

Here is my contribution...
Nev: you said we'd be in a hostel with table tennis and baths
Den: I well, we would've been... had we been on time
I think they'd have still ended up in the hut even if they hadn't of broken down.
Wayne arrived on time and still ended up in the hut, and I presume Bomber arrived
even earlier than Wayne and he too, still ended up staying in the hut.

Thought the same meself like. I tend to think Bomber must have been there a while, as he said they call the other hut, 'The Kazbar' plus when Nev collects his first pay packet Bomber says it's his last, which again seems to me he's been there longer.

Would agree with regards Bomber... Also when Nev states bomber had nearly £900 to takeAlreetPal wrote:peng50 wrote:Here is my contribution...

Ere, ere, ere as Barry would say. I mentioned this in 'Series 1 bloopers.' Not sure how to quote from other threads.
TYPICAL, JUST TYPICAL.

Re: If I Were A Carpenter Episode Dissection
I whacked the DVD in last night and watched it, there isnt loads and loads to Dissect as such, most little things we know of from already talking about it on here, like Nevilles tatoo being seen early on and his coat being on and then not being there at all.. although, one thing that seems slightly weird, the main 3 break down because of the sump falling off, leaving Wayne to get to the site, meet Cappo, and start work, so when the lads arrive we see Wayne watching them walk up to the site with a smile on his face, but with Wayne being quite a step ahead of the trio wouldnt he have maybe got a room at the hostel??
In a way its just nit-picking to say the least, but in another way not everything is explained as the main intention of the writers is to get the 'Seven' together.. even though we dont meet Moxey until the next episode..

There are several mistakes with the Auf Pet subtitles.* Off the top of me head I'm thinking Return of the Seven Part One where Oz says "Act of fascist intimidation" with the subtitles saying "Active fascist intimidation". It even says it on the 'quotes' extra. I blame that Paul chap

But I have to be honest, i'm not sure if this is one of them, but I still think Den says "Joke's as a good a word as any."
It sounds more like that I reckon and it just seems to make more sense that way

*ETA: actually I could be completely wrong and the subtitles may indeed be faithful to the scripts....

He could be saying that. But it should be "Choked is as good a word as any" in that case.AlreetPal wrote:

"Joke's a good a word as any" sounds more likely, I reckon. It definitely has an 's' after the first word so it's either choke's or joke's.
We need to see scripts!

I think it's "Choked's as good a word as any." Clumsy sentence structure there, Den. Did you learn nothing at GeordieSchool?Si wrote:He could be saying that. But it should be "Choked is as good a word as any" in that case.AlreetPal wrote:

Re: If I Were A Carpenter Episode Dissection
You may be right. I just think that Den saying "Choked" is kind of a defeatist thing to say. Wayne can see their plight, so why would Den put them down even more?HerrPfister wrote:

Yes, I think he says "Joke" because it's more pun-like and takes away from the mess they're in. Like it's real funny that Wayne's taking the piss (in a sarcastic way)
