Auf Wiedersehen Pet TODAY
Is 2013 much different than Britain in 1982?
-We're 3 years into a Conservation (albeit Coalition Govt) Government
-Our Economy is slowly recovering from a recession
-Every week someone wants to go out on strike
-Theres a lot of unemployment (ignore the figures they are massaged!)
So would there be mileage in a new Auf Wiedersehen Pet style of Comedy-Drama show featuring 7 people looking elsewhere for work as there is 'naff all' back here in Britain.
Points to consider
-Would it still be all men?
-Do they need to be brickies?
-Where would they go?
-What part of Britain would you source the characters from?
-Who would you want to cast in the show?
All suggestions and ideas welcome!

I think they covered just about everything in the newer episides. A coloured chap, a gay chap, cheap foreign labour, throw in a couple of lesbian scaffolders and you're just about there.

Re: Auf Wiedersehen Pet TODAY
So how to do it today ?
Tax free big bucks ? military contractor brown and root or turners what ever is over in Iraq or Afghanistan, its comming to an end aswell..... so would fit in with a first series - stripping out the camp and returning home - mixing with the camp staff and all that ?
Actors ? difficult one that - ages with the originals at the time would need to be late twenties. three from the same area and then a few others scattered in from other corners of the country, scots irish ?
The army camp would be good - this time they couldnt get off camp so it would be on the camp - the living accom and then the interaction with the troops. Aye this could take shape. The military would be good for a few characters RSM's being what they are and all that.
Can see them fitting in to maintaining the camps and there would be scope to develop some laughs.
Hmmmm now what would the story be ? who would be picked to playe the parts and do the parts need to be defined by who we had before - how about mixing it up a little.
be a load of fun !
youd have brickies joiners sparkies and refridgeration mechs. follow that with a few bosses both the military and the contractor.
The one running from something ? develop that
The one out to get something together to make a change in his life saving a bung.
A couple of old hands
A bore
An outsider
oh there would be so much possible to do here that it needs to be done lol

Re: Auf Wiedersehen Pet TODAY
Loving it, but isn't Ken Stott almost as old as Tim Healy?

Re: Auf Wiedersehen Pet TODAY
Fair point. But at least he's older than Matt, as opposed to Kev and TimBarryTaylor wrote:Loving it, but isn't Ken Stott almost as old as Tim Healy?
