Gary Holton Book - Fast Living *Spoiler alert*

Post by dan slider » Fri Nov 22, 2013 12:09 pm

I've just finished reading the Gary Holton Book, Fast Living.
It took 2 nights reading! So you can imagine its not the most fascinating
of reads.

Its basically the author, a woman from Norway who met Gary when he was over there
recording with Casino Steel, she tells the story from her point of view and is bulked up with insights from people who knew him, mostly members of Heavy Metal Kids, and the odd ex girlfriend like Jahnet and his lsat vbefore he died, Sue
Unfortunately there is no Pet members insight.
The only thing i learnt about him is about the AC/DC audition.
He was never offered the job as Bon Scott's replacement.
He was favorite for the job but he turned up at the audition with a crate of Brandy because
he knew it was the bands fav tipple.
But as Bon had died of alcohol poisoning the AC/DC boys were devastated that Gary could do something like this so decided that they didn't need another excessive front man.

He did have a lot of success in Norway with Casino Steel, number one single and first album but when they tried to transfer in to the UK it failed because the songs had no airplay and the video for Ruby was made using a cheap budget which is apparently not allowed under some union rules in the uk entertainment game.

Some more nice insights into Gary, but its usually the same stories about him living life to excess, but been a great mate etc.

It cost me 12.99 which is bit steep and all the pictures are not on glossy pages which is a let down.
It will probably be half price by January.

But if your a massive Gary fan its probably worth purchasing.
:D
