Fan Gathering 2014

In 2014 Auf Wiedersehen, Pet held an exclusive Fan Gathering Event over the weekend of July 26th. The 2013 Convention in Newcastle saw many of the cast, writers and crew attend, but we wanted to dig a little deeper. We invited along writer Stan Hey who wrote many of the classic Series 1 & 2 episodes including ’Cowboys’. We also tracked down many of the Central Television crew who worked on Series 1 & 2 including, Colin Russell, Deborah Kerby, Will Davies, Barry Stevenson and Gerry Elms. Colin worked as a rigger on the show and was also responsible for recording a special memento for the cast and crew, which we aired on the Saturday night. Exclusive behind the scenes at Ally’s Villa and much much more! Deborah was a set designer and was responsible for many of the sets as seen in Series 2 such as The Barley Mow (Yes it was a set internally), Kenny’s Yacht, The Cross Keys and more. Will worked on Series 2, and thankfully for us liked to whip out his camera, even though he wasn’t supposed to. Director Roger Bamford put a blanket ban on pictures to avoid any press leaks.... Oh well! Barry worked on Series 1, and we are glad to say Barry has some of the earliest behind the scenes footage we have yet found, taken on location in the UK, The Netherlands and in Hamburg and Düsseldorf, Germany! Gerry was head cameraman on Series 2, and came along on the night to share his memories of working with the lads and the finest crew he had ever come across. Gerry also liked to take pictures, many of the can be found in our behind the scenes section, series 2. Big Baz! We hunted down Ying Tong John, who many fans had not seen for many years to see if he’d like to pop along, thankfully he said yes! Many stories and memories from ‘BB’ made the night flow exceptionally well, and we all had some ‘bostin times’....
