Q1. Did you audition for the part of ‘Moxey’ and how did you get it? A1. My agent sent me to meet Roger Bamford (Director) and Dick Clement (Writer), I did my LIverpool accent and I got the job! Q2. Did you think that 30+ years later the show would still be so popular? A2. No I didn’t to be honest, I didn’t think it would be as popular as when it was first broadcast. Q3. Before its return in 2002, how did you feel about getting back into Moxeys shoes? A3. A little bit wary. It’s a risk to revive something after so long, especially when the first 2 series proved so popular. Q4. The lads have certainly traveled the world whilst filming. In which location did you have the most fun with the cast and crew? A4. Hard to answer that one. All the locations were brilliant but Arizona is the one that stands out, it was like being on another planet. Mind blowing! Q5. Do you have any props, or costumes that Moxey wore? A5. No none. I always try and keep ‘me’ and the character as separate as possible. Q6. How difficult did you find playing the character Moxey, and did the Liverpool accent come natural to you? A6. I lived in Liverpool for two years before going to drama school, so the accent wasn’t a problem but because the first series hadn’t been fully written before we started filming, the development that ensued ie. discovering he was a convicted arsonist, became challenging. Q7. What memories do you have from filming at Beesthorpe Hall which was used as Thornely Manor is Series 2? A7. The late Pat Roach (Bomber) and Tim Healy (Dennis) being involved in a head on car crash with Mike Edwards (Production Designer) on the private road up to ‘The Manor’. Q8. Do you still keep in contact with any of the actors or crew from any of the series? A8. Not so much now, time and schedules tend to separate intention from action. However, whenever we do meet up it;s as if it was yesterday. Unique in that respect. Q9. What was your favourite part, and your least favourite part in playing Moxey? A9. Overall I loved everything about Moxey, and there was nothing I didn’t like playing. Q10. The fans are pretty clued up when it comes to all things ‘AWP’, but could you give us an interesting fact we couldn’t possibly know? A11. The only thing I can think of is the first series set in Düsseldorf was, apart from the establishing shots and several exterior scenes, was mainly filmed on the backlot of Elstree Studios which is now I believe the set of Albert Square in EastEnders. The fansite would like to personally thank Christopher for taking the time out of his bust schedule to answer our Q & A.
